Why teaching. The three reports that follow dig into some of the reasons why teaching is becoming an unattractive profession. Specifically, four forthcoming reports will show the following: Schools struggle to find and retain highly qualified individuals to teach, and this struggle is tougher in high-poverty schools (report #2).

This mindset is necessary to teach humanely and effectively in times of radical flux. Importantly, a flux pedagogy mindset is not an innate trait. It’s not an intensive academic pursuit, either. It’s a set of inner resources and personal management skills we can cultivate, use, and teach right now. It just takes intention and practice.
