Well, I have AT&T fiber and haven’t used a modem in decades. If your connection is like mine the fiber terminates in an ONT with Ethernet from that running into their gateway. You need that to provide you with your Internet address. I turned off Wi-Fi in the gateway and run my ethernet to my router, and that handles all of my devices.

Comcast is down in Midtown regularly. Stick with ATT it’s a terrible company morally but their fiber is best in the area for the price. No data caps alone makes it a no brainer.
