No its not, supply for villagers always has to be in Resource Storage (Wood) and Food Storage, they don´t take resources of the workstations. If there is free space in Storage buildings, you don´t need to howl the wood or food to storage, just don´t oversupply your storage., Put it into the house chests for now, and build a food storage as soon as you can. Make sure that whatever food you give them isn't poisonous, so roast the meat and don't give them bitter bolete or wooly milkcap mushrooms.
